The report states that 376 cops responded to the Texas school shooting. If 376 cops couldn't/wouldn't help them, they sure as hell aren't going to help you when you need it!! Defend yourself...

@GerOttman This isn't really in a void... and the statistics are not meaningless. One shows the homicides performed by guns in 2012, the other presents the amount of guns/capita in a society.
Those statistics, are just harmfull for that believe you cherish. You know, that believe that isn't backed up by anything and has been conjured up in a void but accepted because it makes you feel safe/good.
Also... I'm not lieing with statistics. It's a fact that the US has a lot of guns per capita. And it's also a fact that the US has more gun deaths by homicide then all the developed country. I know that's hard to face for people that are religiously invested into the gun religion... but yeah, suck it up suckers.
@MrBrownstone Man, you trully are a simpleton. You can't really engage with any discussion, you learn how the world works from memes that you don't check, and you can't handle measured results. Maybe you should have kept your mouth shut, so you won't loose face.
And that author... "Darrell Huff", he wrote from his perspective as a "tobacco lobbyist". That's your source for the day, a liar that manipulated public opinion to sell tobacco. You better remember that when you are listening to an NRA spokesman speak.
@Kwek00 it's laughable because you've completely failed to publish where the majority of homicides actually occur here in the USA. Here's a proven factoid for you. Over 90% of all Homicides here in the USA occur in Democrat controlled areas with very strict Gun Control Laws and Ordinances in place. Now you subtract those areas from your 'Graph' and you'll see that the USA ranks in the bottom 10% Worldwide.
It's just a pitty that all these things you believe in, well... someone out there finds it intresting to actual measure them. And because you seem to be incapable at the moment to change your believes, you'll always come over as stupid to anyone that looks these things up.
Also... subtracting parts from the map that you don't like, isn't really how it works. In your case, it's just easier to pretend that things can't be measured at all and then everything you believe suddenly becomes true because you want it to be.
@dakotaviper Nothing like viral FB posts. The original FB posts that makes this claim ranks cities, based on FBI death stats, something FBI says is inaccurate. In addition, cities are more violent, and our large cities skew Democrat, that's correlation, not causation (try to understand the difference), and finally, homicide is committed by a tiny % of the populace, so generalizing it to the entire population is at best a political stretch.
So, what other FB fallacies have you been regurgitating?
@CopperCicada Well, for some people the glass is half full I guess. I however do think that there is a lot of work to do when you look at how much the US deviates from the rest of the "rich"/"developed" countries. I also don't think that people living in fear of one another, creating some weird neighbourhood armsrace to protect themselves, is going to help out to solve the issue.
@Kwek00 wow you have Wyoming and Alaska as being very high. What you don't realize is that both of those States have populations under 600,000. Whereas someplace like New York, California, and Illinois have anywhere from 2 million to 10 million in population. Good try there though. Oh and for your info, Chicago, Illinois has just stopped the practice of investigating murders since they have so many daily in their Democrat Controlled city.
@dakotaviper I didn't have anything, the CDC has. Yeah... This next part still seems highly unlikely according according to the data:

I also want to see prove of this... because that would really blow my mind:

It's still statistically rare at a national level.
Yet the national rate is low. How is that possible? It's very very low elsewhere.
Comparing to what???
I suspect if we could even drive the gun homicide stats down from 30 per 1M to less than 1 per 1M-- we would still have stochastic gun violence like school shooters and so on. The vast majority of gun homicide is contained within poor communities, generally black communities in large American cities. African Americans are 4X as likely to be killed by gun violence than the general community, 12X as white people. That's just DOJ statistics, not social science.
Well... these are ofcourse other toppics that the loudest people that spread their gun love and fear of the other don't really want to talk about. But those people that do the shooting, they still need to get guns. And apperently that is really easy. Espescially when things are really affordable in the states that have less restricted gun laws. Those states export their weapons to other states, cause there are little or no checkpoints between states. Something that republicans have a hard time dealing with apperently, because they love to point out regions with harder gun laws, that happen to be neighbours of those states that have way less regulations, have issues too. Just like the criminals in Mexico at the US border, shoot with American guns.
I'm not anti Gun either... I do have an issue when it comes a fetisj. And I also think that a society needs to recognise when things become a significan't problem to citizens. And I do compare with other countries, in my perspective there is a serious issue.
