So The Uvalde shooter, Salvador Ramos, was bullied in school.

This is sad. Another senseless tragedy because people were mean to someone for no reason. The article says he was bullied because he was poor.

Maybe his act was a cry for help that can show us that starting in elementary school, people need to watch out for others getting bullied.

eta- i am not justifying his actions or making excuses for him. i am merely trying to make sense of a senseless act

I don't buy that. Plenty of kids get bullied and they don't go on a shooting spree.

@Lilymoon buy what? im not saying what he did was okay. just that he was bullied and thats probably why he did it
Lilymoon · F
@Penny I don't buy the fact that he went on a shooting spree because he was bullied. He's obviously mentally ill.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Lilymoon you dont think being bullied can cause mental illness?
Lilymoon · F
@Penny No
Penny · 46-50, F
@Lilymoon well, he had no history of mental illness and kept a job at Wendy's

@Lilymoon Being bullied for years at school certainly does lead to mental illness.
How can a child develop "normally" if they are constantly being belittled/maligned/beaten/told they are useless.
With no one to help them they become regressive and have no self esteem and no hope.

@Gusman Enough to go on a shooting spree? I think not. 🤦‍♀️
Penny · 46-50, F
@Lilymoon apparently yes

@Penny if everyone that was bullied went on a shooting spree there would be no one left on the planet. Lol
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Lilymoon As I have said before, each person is different. Their dislocation from society greatly affects them. Being all alone with ones negative thoughts can be very destructive.

@Lilymoon if people stopped bullying others maybe no one would go on a shooting spree

@Lilymoon my cousin was bullied online and she took her own life instead at 14

@Lilymoon The thing is that people react differently. If the shooter was bullied he probably made a sacred vow to himself that he would get even with the mean kids when he got older. And then when his grandmother blasted him for not graduating from high school that was the final straw and he shoot her, loaded up and went to settle the score at the school. Of course the people he shot at the school had never done anything to him but they represented the kids who had.

We all have red lines that people would be wise not to cross. Ours are different from his but if someone pushed you too much you would react with violence, just like he did. So, if you have kids you should teach them to be kind to everyone because one day a person they tormented could vey well end up killing someone and it would be their fault.

@Diotrephes it wasn’t a secret, He’d posted on Facebook two years ago, that he was going to do a school shooting
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@ididntknow Well, they take him seriously now, don't they?
Paladin · 61-69, M
@Lilymoon I was just typing up the same exact response.
You beat me to it.
Paladin · 61-69, M
@Penny Bullying has been going on for ever. School shootings are a fairly new occurrence. No, I believe there is something else at play here.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Paladin you do have a point, but, then there werent things like xbox and movies glorifying gun violence as well as easier access to money and guns. people are more stressed nowadays too. plus they have more examples to follow.
