I swear to Christ in his heaven, if one more idiot draws a false parallel between guns and cars, or guns and alcohol...!

Cars and alcohol are not designed to kill things! Guns are designed to kill things! How fuсking hard is that to understand!?
Nor does the constitution say anything about guns. It says arms. The most common and efficient arms at the time were swords. A flintlock could get off maybe two shots a minute if you were really fast. But modern guns are literal weapons of mass destruction capable of killing hundreds per second depending on the gun. A person paralyzed in all but their hand can still kill with one. Pets have been know to shoot and even kill their owners by pawing the trigger.
Yes they are other ways of killing. But many of them are so inefficient that it could take hours of trying to kill a person for you to succeed. When guns were banned in the UK kniffing skyrocketed but deaths went down. Because a knife is less efficent at causing death.
A car is pretty effective on the surface but the person driving could be just as easily killed driving it.
Alcohol is completely self imposed and can take decades to kill from liver damage. Unless some sick repedocans are forcing bottle after bottle down the throat of someone they have tied to a chair. And even then that could take days or weeks to kill.
But knowing republicans they WOULD commit to that. They just won't commit to saving any living children.
People use these things for HOURS every day to transport kids, get groceries, go to work, etc.

The only purpose of this thing is killing people. The Dayton shooter was able to kill 9 and wound 17 people in 32 sec before a cop got to him. NOBODY needs a 100 round magazine.

@ElwoodBlues To be honest, I can't see the need for a semi-automatic firearms. The only exceptions I can think of would be areas with large land predators, but I'd think a person who is familiar with their firearm would be able to maintain a reasonable rate of fire with a bolt action rifle.

@Vin53 Sadly, that’s exactly where we are, and where we’re likely to remain, in the foreseeable future. 😞

Because American idiots.
Anyway, the only way to improve road safety is for more people to have more cars. To protect the other people in cars. To have rules about driving or crashworthiness, well, that's just the sort of crazed communist snowflake nonsense you only hear from people who WANT TO DESTROY OUR GREAT AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE!!!!
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@Philth and cars should only have 1 door, with armed guards protecting them, to prevent people from killing others with them! 😖
Plus cars are more regulated than guns. So if they really want to go down that path, let's do it.

So I’ve been using my guns incorrectly this whole time? Well shit 🤦🏼‍♂️
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@zerofuks2give how silly can you be.

And I swear to the Flying Spagetti Monster that if one more American with children who isnt planning to leave the country tries to claim they love their kids or claims to care about this issue............
Just face it. The nation for whatever reason isnt going to fix this.. If you love your kids more than anything else, Go.... NOW...The bus has gone through the guardrail and over the cliff already. Its time to jump.😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire So you are telling me you havent even considered it?? Would you sent your 9 year old down into the cellar to go look what all that noise was?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@whowasthatmaskedman I don't have kids, but I take your meaning. But no, what I mean is, even though it's a stupid charge and a nonviolent one, I have a felony conviction.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire Sorry you have a record. But many countries will still consider you IF you disclose it all up front and you have other skills or qualities to offer.😷
Thank you ! And someone who seemed cool got really annoyed with me for pointing that out. But it’s a deflection—apples and oranges— when someone tries to excuse gun violence with stats about cars and alcohol, which are actually both more strictly regulated than guns. If you own a store or restaurant you must have a license to sell alcohol and you can lose that license if you sell to someone under 21. Apparently in some states you can buy an assault weapon at 18.
