To all who ganged up on me for this post. What would you do differently to diminish the slaughter of children? All I hear from you is do nothing. Are you really happy with the status quo?

@GrinNude Nothing would have stopped it. I choose to accept reality.
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@MrBrownstone you are taking a very narrow view. This doesn't happen in other countries. Take a good look at that.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@GrinNude You are looking at a small percentage of gun deaths.
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@MrBrownstone So do nothing? Children are being slaughtered like this in the rest of the world. Except in Ukraine.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@GrinNude Obtain a democratic mandate to amend the constitution, then restrict ownership of arms to those who require them for law enforcement, pest control or sport. Simple.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl And how did that work out for drugs? Banning drugs.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrBrownstone Not banning them, making them more difficult to obtain and the owners more accountable for their actions.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl And people won’t buy them illegally?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl You said restrict to law enforcement. That means banning them for everyone else.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrBrownstone Probably, but it won't be so easy as at present, particularly not for 18 year old boys.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrBrownstone No, it's reasonable for farmers, hunters and anyone else who requires a firearm for their legitimate occupation to own one.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl And self defense.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrBrownstone But self-defence is less urgent if most people are assumed not to be armed.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl There is your danger. Assuming.

@GrinNude
Not ganging up on you.
Just saying that's not a pratical solution.
Waiting periods, closing the gun show loophole, red flag laws, limits on the amount of ammo that can be purchased, banning certain types of weapons, etc.
There's a lot that can be done without discriminating against law-abiding citizens.

@beckyromero lock school doors and have an armed police officer in each school.remember one thing a gun will not aim itself nor pull the trigger it self.go after the gangs and the junkeys that are stealing guns
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@beaglehunter
There is something like 130,000 K-12 schools in America.
Do you also want 12' high concrete walls with barbed-wire around all the playgrounds and sports fields? Maybe some guard towers, too?

@beckyromero thats as bad as saying only cops should have guns.the second amendment was put on the books for the people.i have a right to protect my self.we just saw how long it took for that dumb ass police chief in texas to come up with a plan oh wait he didnt the border patrol went in and did his job.if you choose to wait for help thats your right and if i choose to protect my self thats my right.i may not win this argument but you won either
beaglehunter · 80-89, M
@SunshineGirl wait for help.what the hell just like the kids in that school did because some stupid police chief in texas waite till border patrol did his job
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@beckyromero How about metal detectors and automatic locking doors? Some banks have that sort of thing already.
SomeMichGuy · M
@MrBrownstone
No, we're looking at the major cause of deaths in kids ages 1-19, now, in 2020.
No more hiding behind cars.

And what happens when gunmen decide to attack people waiting in line to get into a school, concert, etc.?
We can't turn America into some sort of "safe room."
We have to find some way to deal with the type of people committing these heinous acts and the weapons they are using.

@SomeMichGuy So it wasn’t Covid. That’s what I said in 2020.
SomeMichGuy · M
@MrBrownstone Lmao
No one--among those of whom I was aware-'said CoViD was the number one source of deaths in that age group.
But "not #1 cause" is not the same as "no deaths", which is what many of your ilk claimed, day in and day out.
