@whowasthatmaskedman On the upside the conflict in Ukraine has got to be pissing off the Chinese. It really screws them over no matter what happens militarily. They can't afford to piss off either side.

Russia basically is why they have an airforce and armour and for a nation that has not had a blue water navy in 30 years I was surprised to learn the engines for most of China's newest ships are made in Ukraine. So the Chinese are over a barrel either way that goes.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow When this first started, China backed Russia quietly, trying to get an alternative to the SWIFT payment system up and running (In Yuan of course)and cut the strangle hold of the $US as a trade reserve currency. It didnt work as the resolve of other countries stiffened against Russia. But if is had worked then America would have lost WW3 the economic war right there. That will come eventually. But the interesting point is that a set up like that doesnt happen overnight. It takes years of planning. And China had it ready to go... They just misjudged the moment. There game if possible is to let as many nations as possible exhaust themselves in tade wars or hot wars and then step in as the last man standing ..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman True, but China could have done far more even on the economic front. But their dependence on Ukraine for their Navy probably explains in part why their support for Russia has been mostly words.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Apparently Biden sent someone for talks with whoever in the Solomons. Anyway there’s talk about NO Chinese naval base being established there. And yes, China “ agreed” to 50 years of Hong Kong autonomy.
As for the Island, Biden will either shit or get off the pot if China attacks Taiwan. Time will tell.
