I think it totally unfair that the father has no say although if she DOES have the child he is liable for child support

If she doesn’t want it and he does, shouldn’t SHE be liable for child support. BOTH created the child.

Reminds me of when I adopted my wife's 4 year old. The judge said "You better be sure you want to do this, because you can divorce her but after I grant the adoption you have him for life."

More to your point, I was involved in a case where a pregnant woman was declared brain dead. Her parents wanted life support removed. The unmarried father of the fetus sued saying it was his child too and he wanted her kept alive until the fetus could survive on its own because he wanted to experience fatherhood. The courts ruled in his favor over her parents' objections. He experienced less than a year of fatherhood before he grew tired of it. Guess which set of grandparents wound up raising the kid.
