How ironic: Russian military vehicles running out of gas

Why did I flash on "My kingdom for a horse?"

Addressing reports that some Russian military vehicles had run out of gas, the official said the invading force sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin had expended more fuel resources than it had planned for.

The simple fact is that the Russians don't have much money. They can't sustain prolonged action.
@HoraceGreenley not to worry, Joe will do all in his power by continuing to buy their oil, to keep Vladimir and his military afloat.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@soar2newhighs True but I don't think we can buy it fast enough to help. War is expensive.
@HoraceGreenley Yes, war is expensive. But who decides to send up to 200, 000 troops to engage in warfare and not have assurances from his military that logistical support will be able to sustain an extended theater of operations?

How is this possible if Russia is a major exporter of oil? Something isn’t right.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@soar2newhighs It would appear that Putin's original plan was to just occupy Donbus, and then decided to over-reach without adjusting the logistics; or, he expected a cake-walk, rolling in and being welcomed as liberator.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@soar2newhighs Well Russia has a lot of oil. But their extraction costs are high and they lack expertise. Russia has to engage Western companies to extract oil.

Russia doesn't make much money off of oil unless the price is high. Generally $80/bbl or more.

I think Putin was looking for a quick victory.
@dancingtongue you as a leader who might want to do what he has done, plans for the big picture and determines through his military what it will take to accomplish such a military endeavor.
@HoraceGreenley Perhaps the western nations’ entities who do the dirty work be called back by their respective nations, given that western nations seem to be appalled by Putin’s actions.
Quick victory not happening.

China & India are Russia’s biggest customers & still are@HoraceGreenley

@Tres13 Yup...The US has been trying to move India away from Russia for a long time. It's hard, however, because India is so corrupt.

Bro they are Indians, they are always after a bargain @HoraceGreenley
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Tres13 Yeah, but Indian government officials raise corruption to an art form. I do business in India.
