NYC prosecutors of Trump Organization resign

One had been with the DA's office since 1984, the other hired more recently by the retiring DA for his expertise in white collar crime. Neither the prosecutors nor the newly elected DA had comment on the resignations.
Two New York prosecutors who had been leading a criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump's business operations have departed the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, suddenly casting doubt on the future of the inquiry.

The resignations of Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz come just over a month into the tenure of District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who succeeded longtime prosecutor Cyrus Vance. Vance did not seek re-election.
they are doing exactly what mueller did.. going after made up crimes so the media can push a narrative that theres 'there there'

another big fat nothing burger was going to be delivered.. the smart ones are out of there..
I personally would welcome more context and maybe a cite.

For example:
The prosecutors, Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, submitted their resignations after the new Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, indicated to them that he had doubts about moving forward with a case against Mr. Trump, the people said.

@MistyCee My post was from USAToday, https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2022/02/23/ny-prosecutors-trump-inquiry-resign/6913418001/

More context obviously is needed. With the New York Attorney General getting subpoena powers to move ahead with the state's civil suit, it may be just political decision which goes first. USAToday article did have NYC DA spokesperson statement that their case would proceed.
@dancingtongue Lol. That explains the lack of context.

It might have changed, but I still think of USAToday as the superficial freebie approach to news targeted to motels.

@MistyCee Not a bad description. Also was the online national news site that didn't restrict and harass you for subscription, but that's no longer true.

@MistyCee No problem either way. I actually had started to put the citation on it, and then thought it was so milquetoast plain -- no comments, no speculation -- that it might be overkill. But I agree with your general principle.
@MistyCee They were there for 38 years? Gosh, something must have happened for them to quit so soon after they got there.

I think we need to look no further into why these two retired. Some people I've worked with have retired after less time than that. I haven't worked where I am for 38 years, and I could retire tomorrow.

First reporting is that they resigned because the DA expressed doubts about pressing charges.
