I'm used to thunderstorms, lived with them all my life mostly

But the thunderstorms in South Carolina are different. The thunder here is so close to the ground, and it is really loud and booming. In the midwest the thunder tends to be high and rolling, with the occasional boom burst. In SC, the thunder happens so loud and without warning that you can get so startled you'll feel like you're going to jump out of your skin, haha!

New England doesn't get many thunderstorms interestingly. I lived in NE (Mass and Maine) for 5 years and only experienced maybe 10 in that time
