Snow tires.

"it sure is fun spending $800 on snow tires" said nobody ever.

What necessities have you spent money on that you really would have done something fun with?

Anything to do with keeping a car on the road. An expensive necessity that I resent the more I look at it.
Sevendays · M
@SunshineGirl agreed!

Yes, any kind of car repair is not fun. Some house stuff like new roof shingles. However, I do have a feeling of peace knowing that things are up to spec.
Sevendays · M
@JimboSaturn I spent $14,000 getting my chimney rebuilt. I know it had to be done but I've never looked up at the chimney and said " man, that's one beautiful $14,000 chimney". Lol
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Sevendays Lol, oh man $14K! that sucks man. Ya, I don't think I would really appreciate that either!
Lilymoon · F
Yeah snow tires for sure. But you got a bargain. lol
Sevendays · M
@Lilymoon whoa, that's a lot. 😧
Lilymoon · F
@Sevendays yeah don't get me started 😤 lol
Sevendays · M
@Lilymoon 🫣. I won't then. Ha
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Is that with rims and balanced?
Sevendays · M
@Degbeme just tire purchase and mounting, balancing.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Sevendays Sounds like you did alright. It cost me that roughly 4 years ago.
Sevendays · M
@Degbeme yeah, I think it was a fair price.
Ynotisay · M
It's interesting that snow tires are a thing in some parts of the country and not others. Where I am it's cables or chains. It's actually a requirement. Waaaay less expensive. 800 bucks for products that break down is a money suck.
Ynotisay · M
@JimboSaturn Thanks. And it kind of sucks. That's some snow, but not a crazy amount, yet you still need to put out the money for snow tires. I'm sure there's some geographical considerations but yeah...plowing and cinders is a good way to go.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Ynotisay Ottawa had much better plowing than around here.

@Ynotisay Snow tires are also just good for cold weather. The rubber is more soft and viscous and don't get hard and slippery like all season tires.

I wish a complete set of Nordic winter tyres for my car were that cheap!

@Stereoguy And people wonder why capitalism is hated so much more and more with each passing decade.

Almost $5,000 in auto repairs within a year, an SUV I never should have bought.
