I Love Snow

I don’t like cold weather but I do like to see snow a couple times a year. When you live in the south, it can get crazy when it’s in the forecast like it is today. Knowing the grocery stores will be empty by this afternoon, I went early and got what I need for a big pot of vegetable beef soup. It’s in the crock pot simmering and I have enough for all, so please come fill your bowl.

I don’t like cold weather either, that’s why I live in Arizona. It never snows here.

@jackson55 I have an internet friend there. He says it’s really been hot this spring.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 It’s been warm. Suppose to be 102 today but the humidity is very low. It’s nothing like the East.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 it’s 70 degrees now and the humidity is 99% with light rain. It feels pretty good, but at 85 and above, it gets bad.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 I don’t like the humidity at all. It’s 71 here with 21% humidity. July and august will bring the monsoons and that will raise the humidity some. Then the sun comes up and it’s gone.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 At 71 and 21%, I’d be in a sweater.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 By 9 it will be 85, no sweater needed.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 That would feel good.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 I work at the Phoenix airport and it will be hot there today.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 Cool - I have my private pilots license and used to hang out at smaller airports.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 That’s cool, I have a ticket as well. I don’t own a airplane anymore, I rent one when I want to fly.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 I have turned to ultralights. I cannot afford to rent ga aircraft. It’s just too expensive for a single girl with a mortgage.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 Yep, they are expensive to rent or own. I used to have a Mooney but it got to where I couldn’t justify the expense. I have a friend with a 172 that I fly from time to time.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 I’ve never flown in a Mooney. Don’t know if they are still on business or been swallowed up by TBM. I learned to fly in a 172. I dated a man that had a small delivery service when I was young. That’s all he used.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 The Mooney was a hot rod compared to the 172. I owned it for 10 years and sold it to a Dr. that could afford it.

@Softandsweet2 I could do much of my own maintenance but still. Too bad you don’t get to fly much, it is a great deal of fun. I have motorcycles that help fill the void at times.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 I fly ultralights some. There is one called a Quicksilver that is completely open - just built out of tubes... great visibility and a lot of fun to fly. Most airports won’t allow them due to the lac of a transponder. Most just have an altimeter and a handheld radio. It’s wonderful to feel the wind in your face.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 I’m familiar with Quicksilver but have never flown one. They aren’t allowed at the Scottsdale airport either. There are other airports around the Phoenix area that allow them.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 There is an airport south of Raleigh that does allow them, but I have mostly flown from a private grass strip close by.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 Falcon field in Mesa used to belong to the military but is now private. There’s quite a group of ultralights and gliders there.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 It’s so different being around people who are just flying for the love of it.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 Yep, I agree. Motorcycle people are the same. Let’s go for a ride just to ride.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 I used to ride on a motorcycle with a guy. It was ok but he tended to scare me sometime.
jackson55 · M
@Softandsweet2 I know that happens sometimes. Can’t enjoy the ride if you’re scared to death. I don’t do crazy things on a motorcycle.
Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
@jackson55 He was a big guy and I couldn’t see around him, which was scary. He would put me in front sometime. I think he had at least three hands.
