@Fishy geesh! Had to look up that slang. You mean parhelion.

Yet the bottom three in my post are paraselene. Helion = sun, Selene = moon. 馃榿

Moonbows are formed by light from the moon and showers or storms at night. Double moonbows are possible when moonlight and moisture is abundant. Colors are less vibrant at night because there is less light available

@NinaTina only acception to this
showers or storms at night.
not necessarily true. They are often formed by ice crystals in the air just like rainbows.

I wish I could take pictures like that when the moon does something interesting. All I ever get are pictures of a white dot on a black background.

@LordShadowfire this is the best have gotten. And it was a super moon.

Light diffraction due to atmosphere is the problem.

@DeWayfarer I seriously want to know what kind of lens the person who took the other pictures you shared was using, and how much of my weed and munchie budget would be impacted by me saving up for one, lol.

@LordShadowfire you'll need to get higher up in the mountains to get those types of images. Less atmosphere to interfere.

Like around Estes Park Colorado.

My own image was taken at around 4,000 feet. Estes Park is around 7,500 feet.
