My Amaryllis in 2026

You may have seen my posts in the past. Last year it did not bloom, but this year it is about to burst open.

When we were in Holland recently, we were told to consider bulbs like these to be annuals, and to throw them out and buy new ones every year, same for tulips. this is the 6-7th year for this bulb which only missed one year of bloom.

Ours bloom every year with no help from me. They were early this year and are all gone.

@exexec We had tulips and other hardy bulbs bloom every year, but the owner of the tulip farm we visited said everyone should consider tulips and other bulbs as annuals. I guess that is how she makes her money.

@samueltyler2 @samueltyler2 I suppose so. I divided our bulbs after the bloom, so they should be a bit more spread out next year. One plant was overtaken by our jasmine, and I had to move it. Day lilies are in full bloom now.

@exexec I do miss having a garden. We hope to go to Home Depot tomorrow to get some plants for our balconies. Right now we have just one hanging plant and the amaryllis. The weather has been so crazy, that we have not gotten our act together.
