Are you in the projected path of the hurricane?

[c=002673]Have you ever been in a hurricane or cyclone? [/c]

Hurricane Sandy hit not too far from where I live and I’ve been through two tornadoes, one a handful of miles away and one that traveled through the neighborhood I lived in.

And I had to shelter in place last year at an outdoor concert when hurricane Henri came through (may have been a tropical storm at that point)

We’re not in the path of any storms this year though. They’re still relatively rare here.

@summersong I had a neighbor who rode out Camille on a boat somewhere along the coast. The story goes he was sent to South America to pick up the boat for the company he worked for and didn't quiet make it back in time. When he died just a few years ago he still had what was left of the flag from the boat. He loved to tell that story, I hope his sons have that flag put up somewhere safe.

@CrazyEights Yeah, shelters are a downer.
Be wary of THE CONE. THE CONE is fraught with uncertainty. Those within THE CONE must stay tuned and be wary of existence within THE CONE. THE CONE must be respected and feared. Do not taunt THE CONE. If you are within THE CONE and have not bought bread and milk, you may starve to death. You can run but you cannot hide from THE CONE. THE CONE is all encompassing. All shall love THE CONE and despair.

@stratosranger They should make a movie called "The Cone."

I have never been in a hurricane but we have had the remnants in the form of tropical storms dump 8 inches of rain over this area overnight causing flooding. I live in central Oklahoma. Tornados are common in my county. We were number one county in the nation for receiving Federal Disaster Aid for awhile, but some years we are fortunate and have none and sometime have several in a summer. One came over the house a few years ago, sounded like a train overhead.

I'm in Alabama and many miles inland. There have been two in the last 20 years or so that did damage this far inland.

@robb65 [c=800000]You should be safe, then. I think if I go to Manitoba I will be out of harm's way. [/c]
robb65 · 56-60, M
@ProfessorPlum77 Yeah, it's rare to get much damage around here.

@robb65 [c=800000]That is a good thing. [/c]

@Stereoguy yeah and they have a couple of restaurants, maybe more now. I wouldn’t mind going back. There was something about that city that I liked. It seemed peaceful. We stay with my uncle’s niece, she was as old as he was but she was fun to be around.
