Any tips for catching a garden rat ?

Got traps included a sonic trap which unfortunately killed a squirrel first....nothing is working.

Rats were getting into my orange tree, so I put spring-loaded traps in the tree. It killed several, and no squirrels were harmed.

@exexec for some damn reason that rat seems to * know * and there are loads of very curious squirrels around here
