Second year growing this one.


It looks black but it's a blue corn out of Peru. I pulled a few ears for supper, I'll probably let the rest dry and save for seed.

@Carissimi Taste like corn, hard to describe how it would be different than other corn. I don't eat sweet corn, I normally grow "Bloody Butcher" which is a red Heirloom corn. This is maybe slightly sweeter than Bloody Butcher which probably doesn't tell you much unless you're in the habit of eating field corn.

@OogieBoogie I remember you posting that a while back. I actually looked for seed. I've never grown carrots but maybe I'll give it a try next year.

@OogieBoogie It stayed black, the juice cooking out was close to beet red though.

I've got a black pea as well, haven't planted those in a couple of years though.
@OogieBoogie There are many colors, with a little search you can find some that aren't so "dirty", but you could grow them for greens too.
