Any Vegetable Gardeners Here?

Im going to try and grow head lettuce this year. Iceberg and Romaine. Has anyone grown them before and have any insights?

I have never grown those due to Oklahoma getting too warm so soon and stunting the growth and causing them to go to seed too soon. Black-seeded Simpson lettuce, which is a leaf lettuce, does good here till it gets hot.
