My little container garden has melons!

At the beginning of May I started a three-pot container garden with two of the pots growing cantaloupes... today I found three melons on the vines!

And yes, I'm thrilled. I've not had any bees around, so I've had to hand pollinate and I am now satisfied I'm doing it at least half right😁

Thats amazing. Well done you 👏
Thars impressive. I would have never ever even considered to hand pollinate anything that i have grown.

Well done you😌

@OogieBoogie me neither until It dawned on me that I was seeing male flowers (no little fruit buds) and female flowers with tiny fruit buds.

Then it hit me that I needed bees for pollination to get the fruit to grown and ripen, and I had no bees visiting.

So I went to youtube and sure enough, they had videos on manual pollination.

Now I'm a pollinator🤣
That is so cool ! 😃

@bijouxbroussard I wanted to do watermelons, but their vines are massive and I didn't have the room. I'm good with cantaloupe and now I have to figure out what I'll do with the other dozen I've hand-pollinated.

I think next year I'll plant one container late April and another late May. That way I won't have a dozen melons to eat all at once.
