Have you ever noticed how anyone who keeps a vegetable garden always has too many tomatoes?

It’s never “I have a perfect amount of lovely garden tomatoes for my family 😌 🍅 🍅 🍅 “

It’s always “Please, for the love of god, take some tomatoes- we’re drowning in them. We’ve all moved into one closet so the tomatoes can have more room. Our youngest perished under the sheer weight of Romas 😩

@Degbeme oh no, do you know why?
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@itsok I grow mine in pots because I don`t have a lot of room. I think I need to change the soil out.

@Degbeme oh that’ll do it. My sister does hers in pots and they are looking rather sad this year

@Degbeme Try some miracle gro fertilizer I
use organic when i use anything . Tomatoes need to be fertilized . 🍅🦋

@anoderod55 I`ve done that once a month. 😟

@anoderod55 @Degbeme Salt build up in pots is a big problem, like you got to have good water run off into the trays. I mean if you adding fertilisers ( like miricle grow or whatever) just make sure you water them wait for the run off then get the extra water that runs into the trays outta there don't leave it hanging around in the trays.

Also over watering and under watering stress plants you you gotta to have a good feel for watering plants at the right times in soil. Good soil makes a difference too. Like say coco mixed in with the soil like a 50/50ish, the pots will get a lot better oxygen, that's if you happen to think you might be a bit of an over waterer but yeah just ideas for Degbeme here really as sometimes it's just these little things over under watering or like I say an over build up of salt from adding feeds that really bugger you up.

@AdaXI It`s been two years since I changed the soil and they say you souldn`t plant in the same spot year after year, rotate so to speak.
AdaXI · T
@Degbeme Yeah I mean I use coco (pure) but I use the pots twice and then ditch the coco but yeah soil is a lot harder to maintain a balance (which is why I use the coco in the first place) so you probably hit the nail on the head with that one bit of fresh soil next year and you'll be away. Always always something or nothing really but God yeah makes all the difference.

@AdaXI I`ll have to remember the coco too. Thanks.

@Degbeme Yeah coco has no natural nutrients in it so you do have to use some kind of fertiliser if you just using it pure but it easier to keep stable and it naturally absorbs oxygen so yeah in your case I'd just get a bag and depending on pot size just mix a good bit in with the soil that way it will have the nutrients from the soil but it will also be able to breathe better but like you say you've not changed the soil for a while so if you got good results before with fresh soil, then it's probably just that and at end of the day so you don't really fix what ain't broken but yeah God the weather we had this year in pretty much every country your plants should be booming so like I say just ideas as to what 'might' might not have gone wrong this year, but I think you probably hit it the nail on the head with the soil rotation TBH.
