Man I make a joke about anything, is it okay to tell a joke to a therapist? 😐

I've asked several doctors over the years after they gave me their diagnosis if I would be able to play the piano. After being told I should be fine i said that was great because I never could before. Didn't get a single laugh. Not even a smile.

I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with your therapist. It's a significant part of my personality that I try and make people laugh to alleviate social awkwardness. My therapist expects me to try and fire off a one-liner with him. Lol.

I of the secretaries at the place I go for counseling has gotten used to me coming in with at least one good joke. Some of my best jokes are NSFW, and out of respect to them (since they are female), I hold those jokes back.

My wife and I Crack up her therapist all the time with jokes. She loves it.

I'm not in therapy right now but I joked with mine 🤷 he joked with me back too

Some are cool with it, some will try to send you to the behavioral center 😂

It's your session so you do what you need to to get the most out of it

Yes! You only have to worry if they stare at you unresponsive for a moment, then write vigorously

Never give "them" more insight into yourself than they ask for, if for no other reason than to stave off the inevitable.
