If you're not supposed to feed gremlins after midnight, does it matter what time zone and is daylight savings figured into it?

People started asking about this in the second movie, but they never settled on a satisfactory answer. Like, what if the gremlin is on a plane flying east across the United States at 11:00 p.m., and he's eating a chicken leg, but then he passes from Pacific time into Central Time, so now it's midnight and he's still eating? Is the change instantaneous, or does it account for jet lag?

Better yet, what if a gremlin is traveling west on an airplane, and it's midnight where he's coming from, but then the plane crosses over a time zone and it's 11:00? Can the gremlin safely eat now?
