Yes. I have camped many times over the years, on both regular camp-sites and wild. Mainly in tents but sometimes in a motor-caravan on the commercial sites.

And I am pleased to say my companions and I always took great care to leave no traces of our having been there, save for patches in the grass that would recover rapidly.

In recent years a degree of infirmity has taken the edge off it as kneeling is physically much more difficult for me, using a lightweight tent; but I am still happy to be under "canvas" occasionally.

Some of the satisfaction comes in being able to cope whatever the weather, within reason. Assuming you have decent equipment and have pitched in a sensible spot that won't flood or anything like that, the worst weather is usually not rain but high winds. (Camping in snow or deep freezing temperatures is very much for the specialists. I have never camped in such conditions and do not have the equipment to do so.)

Incidentally, the open fire as shown in the Group title-photo might be "fun" if you know how to make and use such a fire properly (I doubt many people do); but has long been a no-no in most situations for years. It is not necessary even when and where it is permissible and safe to use. I cook on a small gas or methylated-spirits stove; for years now using a Trangia (Swedish make) either with its spirits or usually now, its gas-burner, option.

@sarabee1995 Some tents come at $500 a night. They do include King Size Beds and En Suites...and Five Star Catering.

@KiwiBird Now THAT'S my kind of camping! 🤣🤣🤣
I do, and I do so as often as possible. Just last weekend, I flew to a remote campsite inaccessible by foot or car.

It is such a blessing having wings.
I used to. My back doesn't care for sleeping on the ground anymore, and I have to have a power source for my bipap.
