@Rickichickie I saw a news article last night here saying that Australia has sent firefighters with specialized equipment (a large helicopter was shown) to help fight forest fires in FRANCE..This sort of international cooperation is something we do a lot..😷

I doubt that he even has that much winter feed... unless he's feeding them something that can be mass produced and imported - as opposed to what he usually grows to feed his cattle.

@HootyTheNightOwl I think it’s a previous years crop that didn’t make the grade to by shipped to be processed.
@AdmiralPrune Even so, he's still going to meet the pinch point later this year when he runs out of this feed and it's too early to turn his cattle out to pasture.
The usual approach of asking a neighbour for help won't work as well, either because everyone's in the same boat.
We need government intervention to help to keep crop production going over summer now before it becomes a vicious circle that's going to drive prices on the shelves even higher.
It's not just farmers who are feeling this pain... our local greengrocers are, too. Mine posted earlier that she's going to struggle to stay in business if this carries on and more customers don't latch on to the other stuff that she offers on the side.
