Red tailed hawk

While at the car show i spotted this guy soaring above. it didn't want to pose and didn't stay long, but i caught enough to identify it as a red tailed hawk.

This robust raptor exhibits a classic buteo silhouette with broad, rounded wings and a bulky body. The ventral plumage features pale underparts heavily streaked with dark brown, forming a noticeable belly band. Distinctive dark brown 'carpal patches' are visible at the wrists on the underside of the wings. The flight feathers show clear dark and light barring. The tail is fanned open, displaying multiple dark horizontal bands, which indicates an immature plumage or a light morph individual (since adult Red-tailed Hawks typically have a solid rufous tail). The throat is pale, contrasting with a dark malar stripe, and the eye area has dark markings. The length is approximately 45-65 cm with a wingspan of 110-145 cm.

Good shot! It's hard to capture the image when they are flying.

@exexecthanks, i tried to get ready to get an image with it facing me, that never happened, i should have made the shutter speed shorter, but I was so rattled by the bird and trying to shoot it, that i didn't really have the time to pay attention.

you might be interested, saw this one on the golf course, all i had with me at that time was my Blackberry
