I lived in a van for a year. I LOVED it and plan to live on the road again later in life. It's not easy, but it's simple and you feel like days last longer, time slows down. My biggest concern was safety, where to park and sleep and where do I fit. You live in a small space you use for everything so you have to be somewhat organized and very efficient. Things need to get done daily. But that felt good. It felt natural and real. Best part is waking up wherever you want. If you're in the US there's lots of public land, lots of it around or close to national parks.

I'm pretty secluded in the mountains but not on a bus. Although I've lived on them with long tours. My suggestion? For both the travel and the location parts? I'd rent a camper van for a week or two and take a test run before you commit.

There's a lot of things we see on TV or a clip that look really good in short increments. But there's a reality to them.

I remember when the book "Wild" came out about the woman trying to hike the PCT to 'find herself." It led to lot of people thinking they wanted to do the same. And it was a disaster. They only saw the "romantic" side of it. And that's not how things work.

Even just being alone for a long stretch of time is not something most can do. So I would definitely try to get a taste first. It might work for you. If it does, and it's possible, I'd probably consider a camper van before a bus. You want as reliable a vehicle as you can have. Don't want to be out in the middle of shit and have break downs.
We will be doing it soon as we will be building our first house. I love the woods. I've lived in a 5th wheel before. It's tight, but it's so much easier to clean!

I live in a house in a pretty remote area of the woods.

It is quiet, peaceful, etc. I love it. But it can be pretty inconvenient not having quick access to stores, medical access, etc. there’s no DoorDash or deliveries lol

I grew up like this so I know how to plan and shop for long term but I got too used to some creature comforts living in cities.

I’m sure there’s lots of youtube videos? Because it’s a long story .. living in the woods and traveling especially by buss are not the same thing as travel is expensive and so is pluming .. also beware of creeps (in the woods and while traveling)

It's full of freedom and full of responsibilities. Extremely risky and extremely fulfilling.
Very big decision so think through before you begin and have a back up.
lots pros and cons..i say van is little less challenge then a bus

School bus is luxury after living in a van for two years. 🤣

I would say just make sure you have protection
@Nebula good advice! We carry a pistol everywhere we go. Hubby calls it his fishing pole, lol
