Has anyone grown pumpkins before

I've tried butternut squash and had no luck, so giving pumpkins a try this year. They should look like these if they do mature.

Did pumpkins about 5 years ago this is easy I thought about a third got destroyed by insects and rot but it was ok. They haven't worked since.

@GeniUs around here we just throw pumpkin seeds on old hay mounds or random locations. They grow like weeds
