It's not easy being a dwarf planet

This is Haumea, one of five dwarf planets identified in our solar system. She is too small to have a proper global atmosphere, so gravity has pulled her into an egg shape. She spins so fast that her day lasts just 3.9 hours. And to cap it all, something collided with her and now she has a big red bruise on one side and a ring of ice and rock she just can't seem to shake off.

But how does Pluto feel these days with the possibility of being declared a double planet in conjunction with its moon Charon?

@ChipmunkErnie Still in a huff about being demoted to a dwarf planet . .

@SunshineGirl Somewhere I have a book about that -- tried to find it to lend to someone and can't figure out where I put it -- that explains that the whole "demotion" was based less on scientific definition of planets and more on how research funds were allocated.
