It's not easy being a dwarf planet

This is Haumea, one of five dwarf planets identified in our solar system. She is too small to have a proper global atmosphere, so gravity has pulled her into an egg shape. She spins so fast that her day lasts just 3.9 hours. And to cap it all, something collided with her and now she has a big red bruise on one side and a ring of ice and rock she just can't seem to shake off.

I feel sorry for Pluto, which was relegated from full planet status in my youth.

They are the Burnley FC of large orbital rocks.

@Burnley123 Still a planet in my (admittedly very old) book.

@SunshineGirl I agree!

Distance, size and debris in orbit be damned!
@Burnley123 @SunshineGirl I'm in the Pluto Is Still A Planet club too

@SunshineGirl When I was in school in the 90's Pluto was still a planet back then too! 🤗🤗🤗 Not anymore though! 😘😘😘
