Ever get stuck behind a forest fire?

There is one burning south of here and it is blocking the only road in.

As a follow up to this story: The camp was worried that it might run out of food since it had 3000 people there and only three days of food in storage. If the highway was closed for any length of time the camp would quickly run out. The decision was made to send all nonessential workers home. The flights started at 7:30 in the morning and the last one was expected to leave at 10:30 at night. That left only 400 essential workers on site which left lots of food for them. My crew drove home down the highway that might be closed but all we saw was some smoke and cop cars making sure that everyone moved safely.

@hippyjoe1955 there are 3 landing strips north of the city that food could be flown into.

@Quimliqer Yeah they fly out of the Fire bag airport which is only a few miles away from camp. However they have lots of money so they don't mind spending some of yours.

I remember I was living at my parents house up in the mountains. There was a huge fire not too frar from where were at. The good news is we lived near Caltrans and the Fire Department.

That's like 15 years ago.
take care...i think this fire season is gonna be a bad one. fortunately i live in the city, but i'm sure we'll get the smoke and perhaps not see the sun all summer long....stay safe

@Hatt94 yes I am working at Kearl and drive in last Thursday. I was in Fort Mac yesterday and other than a bit of smoke everything was normal.

Kind of reminds me of my grandfather old place. The hill would all was catch on fire all most every year. I would all was call my friends to come over to help make a dirt path around the house and we started a back fire to keep the main fire away from the house. The road was never blocked by fire
