As a follow up to this story: The camp was worried that it might run out of food since it had 3000 people there and only three days of food in storage. If the highway was closed for any length of time the camp would quickly run out. The decision was made to send all nonessential workers home. The flights started at 7:30 in the morning and the last one was expected to leave at 10:30 at night. That left only 400 essential workers on site which left lots of food for them. My crew drove home down the highway that might be closed but all we saw was some smoke and cop cars making sure that everyone moved safely.

@hippyjoe1955 there are 3 landing strips north of the city that food could be flown into.

@Quimliqer Yeah they fly out of the Fire bag airport which is only a few miles away from camp. However they have lots of money so they don't mind spending some of yours.
