Violence has been around long before video games, films and television were invented.

Ever since the earliest known days of humanity's existence, people have always fought for sport, for food, for position, for many things.

The Romans had organized bloodsport in the form of gladiatorial duels presented live before audiences of thousands.

In Medieval times, positions of eadership was often fought for in the form of jousting and swordplay.

In the 1700's, upper-class gentlemen would duel each other with flintlock pistols.

This carried over into 1800's America, but with low-class farmers dueling each other with revolvers.

Dueling died out at the tail-end of the 19th century, and yet violence remained and still remains in one form or another.

It's not pleasant, but it's true.
