Dont get me wrong…

I’m pro gun.
I’m pro hunting.

Saying that..
as an Australian.. is it entirely necessary to dress like a commando in cammo paint… to hunt dear?
Just seems like a little fantasy role play and good hunting at the same time… 🤔

blaze orange is the norm here during gun season. A lot of dipshits in the woods not paying attention.

during bow season though it is best to blend in as best as you can. The best camouflage in my opinion though is a couple of pockets full of bird seed. If the chickadees are landing around you and on you unafraid, the deer can sense that.

Crocodile Dundee used bare hands and crocodile suit.

Does this "armchair commando" even know what a complete ass he is!? Learned his face paint technique from "cool commando" website. Wears all that white color around his head during dear season. White is the color of a deer's underside form neck to tail. A flash of white in the woods during dear season screams DEER to another hunter. (not very safe!). His "trophy" is a yearling doe. "Yep, it was her or me boys!"

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Sesame Street! Y'all had a TV!?
@Nitedoc pedal powered.. but still... 😏

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Dang! Y'all was uptown!

Clearly you have never hunted a whitetail . Get up in a tree , wear your street clothes … and never see a deer . We hunters don’t know anything .
@TexChik Australia’s are more .
Singlet , flip flops, beer. And chase that sucker til it’s cornered..
Laying in wait for an ambush seems unfair 🤓

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout chasing them down with vehicles is illegal here. “Ambushing” a deer requires that you know their habits and habitat , can get close enough for a shot ( I use a bow mostly ) kill it and get it out to process the meat .
It's not necessary. In my commando phase I had a cargo vest and all, but no weapons. My fascination with surplus army gear started with feeling safe in the stuff for a tiny number of dollars, also making life safer. It didn't occur to me that others would see a warrior until one day in 1979 I forgot to take the German emblems off an old jacket - in Paris. Ooooh boy. After that I added tons of rainbows and butterflies to each military looking thing.

as a pro gunner that hunts regularly, trophy hunters are morons imo.

dressing up like a tacti-cool clown, dousing yourself in deer urine, and waiting in a deer stand for several hours so you can shoot one at point blank range and pose next to it afterwards isn't the least bit impressive to me...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I could care less what a deer looks like, I only care what it tastes like...
Ceinwyn · 22-25, F
I’d be impressed if hunters made their kill with their bare hands. Or a spear at most.

If wild animals could work rifles. There’d be more human heads mounted on walls than antlers.
isn't that deer a little young?
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@beermeplease Yes it is! But look at that clown's face. He is so proud of himself!
Adrift · 61-69, F
@wildbill83 My dad was a deer hunter and he used to say that that was total BS.
He said getting a large buck was more of a challenge and the Does are just easier targets
Most of the deer that you will ever see hanging around are does and young bucks.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Adrift older animal = tougher meat, that's true of anything.

buck's aren't "more of a challenge". It's a bigger target, easier to spot
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
The law here requires hunters to wear a certain percentage of orange clothing when they are hunting.
i think that MTG's son btw.. for reference..
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout That would explain a few things.
