Yeah not many people do here in the us every now and then you will see a walker or a bike

SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Not many people seem to use their legs these days. Yesterday I was out on a walk in the countryside and two people stopped their cars to ask if I was OK 😐
Mariagirl · 18-21, F
@SunshineGirl That's weird, we should all try a walk each day if we can or a bit of sport.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Mariagirl Definitely. Walking is good exercise for body and mind 🙂

I walk all over the place, but that's just me. Lots of people don't.

You should watch this guys YouTube channel. It describes why Americans don't walk.

@michaela2001 yup, it's by design. Trying to tell Americans that they can have it better is definitely dangerous! Cars and guns and God. No solutions.

i walk to nowhere all the time. i live on a double lot; 10 laps is one mile in 10 minutes. i don't walk on the streets because i always get some uninvited attention, but i always see people walking in my neighborhood, rain or shine. otherwise, my city is too sprawled out to actually walk to a destination.

i love walking, i just dont get to much

There are a few good walking cities in the U.S., including New York and San Francisco. But many cities and suburbs are nearly totally given over to cars. The infrastructure discourages walking and bicycling. Much of this comes from single-use zoning laws.

I walk for exercise and often to the market near my house and back, but to get most places I drive.

My partner and I went for a short walk today (planned to be longer, but insects were swarming)

Depends on the geography. Urbanites walk a lot.
It's built for cars and it discourages all the alternatives. The suburbs are purposefully built with cul de sacs and dead ends instead of a grid, to prevent carless movement. The cities are dominated by roads that would kill pedestrians. "Pedestrian" in the USA means trash quality. Useless, cheap and too embarrassing to look at.
When fascists from Rotterdam looked upon it they were jealous and demanded fatal roads of their own to cruise on in killer cars. The Dutch admire Americans.
