Possum invasion thwarted

Our beagle/terrior mix was going nuts outside, so I went to check. There was a possum on the back fence. I shooed the invader away, but the puppy is convinced there must be many more out there. She won't stop barking and prowling the yard. Maybe a treat will work.

Better possums than raccoons. Possums, other than looking like overgrown rats, are benign and actually helpful to the ecosystem. Raccoons OTOH hare cute as can be, but are scavengers, destructive, and vicious. There is a moral somewhere in there.

We used to have a watch goose in the backyard. Let you know if there were intruders, scared of little, and when they start honking and spread their wings to full attack pose, scares off about everything. Except raccoons. She put up a big racket one night and I opened the patio doors to see what was up with her, and a pack of raccoons has managed to corner her. She bolted in the door. Only time she ever showed fear or attempted to come in the house.
@dancingtongue When I drove school bus, there was a goose at one farm that came slapping his orange feet and flapping his wings to challenge the bus.

@Mamapolo2016 They usually are fearless. But not when cornered by raccoons.
