Tasmania has just approved the culling of 200 native Black Swans

Why?
Because they are fouling the water of the introduced Trout. Trout were introduced to Tasmania by England in 1864.
Remember the extinct Tasmanian Tiger? Culled because it was thought they were eating sheep. Another introduced species.
Seem like Australia values introduced species over our native animals.

People will never learn. They trash the environment and harm species that were already present.

@deadgerbil In my opinion these decisions are criminal.
The power lies in the bodies that want financial concerns taking precedence over the natural world.

@Gusman it's always about money. An example of this would be with hunting.

The African wilderness is really only preserved because big game hunters will pay big bucks to hunt the animals, and tourists want to see the animals etc, which creates incentive to protect the land, due to that money.

If there wasn't that demand, the land would be overrun by poachers looking to make their quick buck.
