It's not something I can actively choose to do but it happens when my head can't hack any more. I think it's a form of mental self preservation when you got so much crap going on life would be overwhelming without it.

Don't ask me how, but I've learned to turn them off and then find myself turning them back on when I feel appropriate. The latter usually involves listening to someone I don't know.
