At college my friend let some other kid take his car for a spin on campus. Ended up reversing it into a pole and putting a deep V shape in the back end, like a foot deep. What's worse was that the car was actually one that his dad used for deliveries for the family restaurant. Oopsy 🤣

In Norway the times i have rented a car, it doesnt matter. The rental company will put you at fault and you will be up for paying damages.
Unless say a car slammed into you and there was a police report and mostly likely the person at fault insurance company would pay for damages.. if that person has insurance anyway..
Without a police report or anything like that, if you bring a rental car back damages, youre at fault for it despite if you claim it was your fault or not

No, the American way would be to sue whoever put the pole there in such an obviously dangerous place for cars to back into it, and the rental company for renting a car without auto braking that allowed him to back all the way into the pole. But he probably wouldn’t do that either 🤷♂
