I’m not sure if I would’ve been able to be as polite.
And I can’t imagine what that contractor was thinking. Perhaps he’s been around too many black MAGAs.

Do some Americans actually not know that it's offensive?
@JimboSaturn Based upon the number of people I’ve encountered who have tried to argue that I shouldn’t find it offensive, not many. But clearly there are still some.

@JimboSaturn The problem is that a lot of white southern Americans grew up with this flag and were told it was part of their heritage, long before they were told whose flag it was.
@LordShadowfire Right. It’s not amazing that so many of them aren’t clear on what that ”heritage" encompasses. Nowadays people don’t want it taught about.
@BlueGreenGrey Sometimes we give people too much credit. My guess would be that, while many display it as a gesture of contempt, many others do for the same reason children wear Pokémon clothes.
