Spoken like someone who never played the game. You have very large men running at speeds close to and in excess of 20 mph colliding with each other. Or landing on vulnerable body parts like knees, ankles, etc. Injuries have always part of the game. As for your ridiculous comment...I'd suggest try calling an NFL linebacker a sissy to his face. Once you regain consciousness, you'll get to spend some quality time with your dentist replacing those missing teeth.

The injuries that were simply fought through in the past are not being overlooked as they once were.
Although, players are still getting "shots" in injured areas to be able to play.
The number of ex players suffering irreparable brain damage is staggering, and no longer hushed.
There are no "sissies" in football. The game itself doesnt allow for it.
