Why do most foreigners of the same Country/Region look the same to me?

I have really difficulty telling them apart.
One Chinese looks like another Chinese. One Aboriginal Australian looks like another Aboriginal Australia.
One Asian looks like another Asian....
What is this affliction of mine called? Nothing to do with racism, but there is a block there, in my mind.

Think about the visual features you usually depend upon to tell your friends and colleagues apart. Perhaps you prioritise hair or eye colour, which may not be so helpful when recognising people of Asian origin.

@Gusman Could be..and I have often wondered if the reverse applies.
I saw the Japanese womens rugby team play Wales last year.
They all looked similar!
