What do you like about or remember from the 70s?

The first 45 single I bought was Alice Cooper's School's Out and it was important to me at the time as I was leaving school that summer. 1972 at fifteen years old. Before that I used to listen to my friends records as I didn't have a player of my own but then my dad bought me a Phillips one on my birthday and I treasured it.

When I was 17 I became swept up in David Cassidy mania and bought his first album Cherish. I only saw him once in concert, it was at White City in London and I couldn't believe I had a ticket in my hot little hands to go and see him live with my cousin, another huge fan.
The sad thing about the day was that a young girl, Bernadette Whelan, was injured as fans surged forward crushing her. She later died in hospital. I remember reading in one of our national newspapers, that her parents were turning her bedroom, which had his poster and pictures all over her walls, into a shrine for her and David. One of the headlines even read that she "died" for him.
I wondered if her parents ever found enough peace to change her room, taking the pictures down and maybe redecorating it in a nice colourful way. To leave it as time standing still would never have helped them move on.

That was my childhood. The people were a bit chaotic and stressful for me, but I spent as much time as possible outside and on my own so I remember the 70s mostly as lovely peaceful snapshots of nature in my head. Mom taught me how to play her records so those are my soundtrack for the decade.

There's so much. I wouldn't know where to start. Cassidy had a great voice. I saw him on a nostalgia tour in the 90s, and when he and Shawn were in a musical together.

Station wagons, Big Wheels, the Bicentennial, minimal adult supervision, The 6 Million Dollar Man, hitchhikers.

I remember the only thing I had to worry about was getting caught cutting out of classes in high school. Compared to today's worries, cutting classes was nothing.

Disco music was the last time that white and black musical influences met in the middle and created lush, beautiful dance music.
