"Classic" Metal

During my formative years, "metal" was defined by vocalists such as Ronnie James Dio and Ozzy Osbourne, and bands such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. By the 90's, the trend in the genre was to forgo singing for screaming/growling/grunting vocals, and I drifted away from the scene quite rapidly ( the notable exception being black metal where anguished and tortured screams contribute to the music's overall atmospheric effect ). I find it encouraging to see somewhat of a resurgence in interest in the "classic" metal music of late.

The demand of old school Metal bands grew more and more over the years. Iron Maiden still packs a full house. Not very many front man can still sing as good as Bruce Dickinson especially at 64. I saw them last month took my 19 year son who appreciates old school metal.
I agree with your statement, hard to beat Maiden, Megadeth, Sabbath, Dio, Motorhead, Priest and many more.

They’ll never be a better era than the 70’s and 80’s.

I'm into Progressive and Doom metal. Every other metal genre is either annoying or played out imo.

A lot of people with that opinion really likes Volbeat I don't know if you heard of them but you see comments on their videos pretty much saying the same thing

I loved early Metallic and Maiden,AC/DC too ...back in the day.
