I get the spriti in wich it is intended.
But i have meet women who have expressed a negative opinion
role-reversal version ? I think we are years from that being offensive
just like man seduces student... he goes to jail

@Amylynne Well, the difference is even illustrated in the 1949 movie, Neptune’s Daughter. Ricardo Montalban sings it to Esther Williams—and he’s a wolf. Later, Betty Garrett sings it to Red Skelton, and it’s just as obvious she means business. But there it’s played for laughs.
That controversy stirs up every Christmas because people don't understand the lyrics.

@adorabelle A lot about the context of what is flirtation and consent has changed—and rather dramatically, since 1944.
@bijouxbroussard Oh, gotcha.
Well, thanks for the example of people that don't understand the lyrics.

@adorabelle If you can understand the language, you understand the lyrics. But context is everything.
Do you understand what I mean ?

Much ado about nothing.

It's manufactured absurdity. The song is nothing more than flirtatious banter.
It was a marketing ploy and a few people bought into it.
