Remember the controversy around this song a few years ago?

I wonder if this role-reversal version would have been viewed as better or worse. I always kind of liked it, and for me this version is better. They should be playing this like they play Mariah Carey.

That controversy stirs up every Christmas because people don't understand the lyrics.
@adorabelle They understand the lyrics. They just don’t get the times in which it was written (1944).
@bijouxbroussard That's why they don't understand the lyrics.
@adorabelle The meaning of the lyrics is clear. The context is what has changed.
@bijouxbroussard The meaning of those lyrics is clear to those who understand the lyrics to that song. It's not clear to those who don't understand. The context of those lyrics hasn't changed at all.
@adorabelle A lot about the context of what is flirtation and consent has changed—and rather dramatically, since 1944.
@bijouxbroussard Oh, gotcha.
Well, thanks for the example of people that don't understand the lyrics.
@adorabelle If you can understand the language, you understand the lyrics. But context is everything.
Do you understand what I mean ?
