Jaco Pastorius with Alphonse Mouzon and Albert Mangelsdorff

Those of you who think Jaco Pastorius was just one of those funky chunky bass players: listen to this music, recorded when Jaco was at the height of his tenure with Weather Report. Albert Mangelsdorff plays trombone multiphonics (more than one note at once, using overtone singing), and Alphonse Mouzon ('the animal') does what he has to do.
I know it's not for everyone, but maybe it's for you, dear reader? 🌷

Jaco was ahead of his time, bass players understood him.

@BLP11520 Listen to "Night and the City" by Charlie and Kenny Barron and you will know what I mean. Here's an example:

The music is sublime, of course, but it's not exactly free jazz 😏
