No, it's actually not that complicated.
Usually familiy or friends are the first who notice something is off. They report to law enforcement or health providers, and an evaluation is ordered. If evaluation shows the person is at risk of harming themselves or others, their weapon & CC permit is temporarily removed.
Rules like these are called "Red Flag Laws", and they work. It's in effect where I am and hasn't impacted other gun rights, or my own carry. Check out more info here :

@pdockal I work in mental health there's already a shortage of providers. So I don't personally see how the medical side would handle it .

You need a six year degree to have your behavior analysis credentials in order for the state to acknowledge the status of your findings in any behaviors good or bad
