All this hoopla bout'self driving cars

For most of human history vehicles came standard with automatic collision avoidance and could even get you home when you were drunk. Begs the question: Why did we replace the horse? 🤔

We replaced them because we would be up to our eyeballs in horse manure by now. I vaguely remember seeing a calculation that said that New York city would be a foot deep by 1920 if cars hadn't been invented. Or some other long ago date.
