I just saw this article talking about how the "age of illegal music sharing" is ending. Which is laughably incorrect.

It's easier now than ever to download pretty much any music you want absolutely free using file converter. I can do it seconds. Name any song and I'll have it on my computer in less than half a minute without paying a red cent.

the age of record labels is ending

@tenente: I'm not even exactly sure wtf a record label is.

@BlueMetalChick: In the days when records were on vinyl, there was a label in the middle of the vinyl disc which had the company name on it (RCA, Columbia, etc). The term "record label" has remained in use throughout the age of CDs.

@Bottomschmackenloudenboomer: Ah, I see. Like, the company that markets and produces the band or artist.

@BlueMetalChick: Correct, BlueMetalChick. I'll direct you to a site of which I am a member, to show you an example. The example I am choosing is "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley, the record which was number one in the charts when I was born.

Elvis recorded for RCA, which is one of the company names I mentioned in my other comment. This is what the RCA label looked like in the 1960s.
