David Gilmour - Pink Floyd guitarist.

@YourMomsSecretCrush He proved you don't have to be a virtuoso to be an excellent tasteful guitarist. 👍
@helenS and his voice is so smooth.
helenS · 36-40, F
@YourMomsSecretCrush ... and somewhat stoical 😏
jackson55 · M
Hard to pick out one. I like Mark Knopfler from Dire Straights. Bob Dylan.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
@jackson55 Mark Knopfler is a good choice. Not only good on the guitar but an accomplished songwriter. He is an English graduate who also worked as a reporter, both of which inevitably helped! As for Dylan, he's a good painter too!

@helenS Most of “Another Green World” served as the music for “The Lovely Bones” and i am certain that most of the audience didn’t know that the music was composed in the 70s.
Currently i am listening to “Taking Tiger mountain by strategy” “third uncle” is a fun song. Glad to see we share him for favorite music. Another Green world is my favorite because it is so other worldly.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Pfuzylogic Another one that I like is "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts", with David Byrne.
Pfuzylogic · M
@helenS Released in the early 80s

@astrosandorbits Fully agree with you on that. Harmonic structures of the early classical period are rather shallow in comparison.
(The first real chromatic work is Wagner's Tristan, by the way.)
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@helenS this is odd. Distinguish for me chromaticism and a chromatic work.
helenS · 36-40, F
@astrosandorbits I can't. Same thing, to me.

I can truthfully say I have a "favorite" nothing. My love for anything is probably dictated by how my morning starts out, and what I see once I go outside. I find that music fall under that spell. Something I smell on the wind, the sound of the sea, and her subsequent tantrums against the coast.....I think any of that sets the table for that days inspiration in music----or anything for that matter.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Freeranger my favorite varies, as does yours, by my mood. I may listen to sinatra, then switch to all music, jazz, popular or classic depending on my mood.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Freeranger Very poetical!
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
Popular: Post Malone
Traditional: not really sure what this means
Classical: Sergei Prokofiev

I don't have a favourite musician because I like too wide a range of music, so for me it is more my preferred styles of music:

Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern, some Contemporary including film and video-game music; a lot of rock, rhythm-&-blues (the real sort, not the supermarket stuff called "R&B"), folk, some jazz, a lot of pop-music from my own youth.....

I could never pick just one person/band.

I dont really have a fav musician but been listening to a one man band type thing called Burzum lately.
forget who it was but some guy told me i was like the guy who created it (was meant as a insult) but the guy is Norwegian like myself and thought i would check it out and i gotta say i am a fan.
Varg Vikernes is his name. Pretty interesting guy with a messed up past but the music is pretty good

Jazz, "modern" or bigband.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helenS i think it was more of a style, not timing. it was light, cool jazz, dave brubeck, modern jazz quartet, ahmad jamal, oscar peterson, etc.

@samueltyler2 Thank you! To me, it all started with Charlie "Bird" Parker.
Parker <== ❤️
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helenS reading the website i attached gave me a little different approach, but, again, it isn't really defined by a time period, which is interesting, since it is called "modern" jazz.
helenS · 36-40, F
Classical opera composers, especially Gluck, Mozart and Wagner.
