Do you like Santana?

Whilst I don't know much of Santana's music I do like this one, and it's been on the radio today (apparently Carlos Santana is 75 today).

I like Black Magic Woman-Gypsy Queen, Europa (Earth's Cry, Heaven's Smile), Oye Como Va, Samba Pa Ti, Evil Ways, Flor D'Luna, Revelations, Guajira, Aqua Marine, Jin-Go-La-Ba, Song Of The Wind and Bella. He has a lot of stuff I haven't heard, though.
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
@helenS oh yeah Helen...that was all good too. I loved King Crimson and Yes. Anderson (forgot his first name) with Yes...had a great voice and did more stuff after Yes. You have a good memory and listening ears 😊
helenS · 36-40, F
@Midlifemale Thank you! 🌷
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
@helenS you're welcome. I lived all of that and remember all of that shit !
helenS · 36-40, F
I love his eponymous 1974 album, and especially the song "Promise of a Fisherman" on that album.

HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@helenS It's all right. I wouldn't go mad over it but it's listenable.
helenS · 36-40, F
@HairbrushDiva Actually it's really interesting. You post a lot of music, and I listen to that music. Our musical tastes are different.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@helenS I post what I've heard on the radio during the day, it's not always what I like myself. I just like to see how popular those songs are on here.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Just been listening to them. Soul Sacrifice..live 1970..better than the Woodstock version.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Entwistle Woodstock was 20 years before I was born. My mum was only 2 then. Lol :)
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@HairbrushDiva I was 18 months old when Woodstock happened.
Adrift · 61-69, F
He is an awesome guitar player.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@helenS Not sure, I have watched him play and he does everything so effortlessly.
@Adrift Went to see Santana in Lake Tahoe with friends. We slipped the usher a few $$ and got a table in front of the stage. Watching Carlos play up close was incredible.
Willyp063 · 61-69, M
@BizSuitStacy Santana was my favorite band when I was in High School.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
while "black magic woman" is his gold standard

I LOVE Europa
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
He has recorded and performed a lot of cool material. The Inner Secrets album has a lot of good stuff on it too, I think it was next after Moonflower. @Pretzel

When he was just a kid.

BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
Yes, he is extremely good with creating energy with altered and diminished chordal patterns in the right way, creating motion and energy within scales. A very uplifting guitarist. Very soulful.
I've never met him so it is hard to say if I like him or not...however I do enjoy his music, especially the song Europa
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@istillhaveanameitsrick I meant do you like his music, silly! Lol :)
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Santana is definitely in my top ten, maybe even top five. I love turning on Moonflower and hanging out by the pool on a summer evening.
Oster1 · M
I love this classic. Hope you enjoy too. I have this in my profile under 'the greatest guitar players ever'.

Bartleby · 51-55, M
Agreed. Not the biggest fan though I recognize he’s hugely talented. This is one of the good ones.
MellyMel22 · F
I’m pretty sure that’s the only song by him that I liked, but I could be wrong.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
I'll admit, I wasn't really a huge fan of him, but my father is.
AnneHoney · 41-45, F
Carlos, great guitar player
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
I don’t. I find his playing repetitive.

....some of his stuff is good
helenS · 36-40, F
@caesar7 Mike Rutherford said in an interview that Santana's "Promise of a Fisherman" was used as an inspiration for "Los Endos"!
caesar7 · 61-69, M
@helenS Didn't know that. Thanks for sharing :)
